Economical Lagrangian Drifters (ELD).
Developed for near shore lagrangian current measurements, the ELD employs either zigbee or cellular (CDMA) wireless communications coupled to a GPS, microcontroller, and low data rate instrumentation (thermistor, salinity, O2, etc.). A PVC frame and pelican case housing keep the cost low allowing smaller projects to use larger numbers of instruments. Proprietary server software makes the data easily available to the end user.
